You betcha! These jeans are McCall5142, more affectionately known as "mom jeans". That's just fine, because--well, that's what I am! I made the relaxed fit version from a striated blue denim that was in my stash.
I followed the Jeans Sew-Along on PR, and there was a lot of really great information about sewing jeans. These have a contoured waistband, which is faced with red bandanna fabric. The fly facing is the same fabric, as are the pockets. I used a red zipper. White top stitching with heavy-weight thread.
I love these jeans. They fit well and feel good. I prefer really dark denim, and have a couple pieces of indigo to make more. I ordered another jeans pattern from JenniferStern. She has a couple of jeans patterns. One is for "curvy girls", and I definitely qualify! When that pattern gets here, I'll work on it, and make another pair of jeans. Both the McCall and Stern patterns are designed for non-stretch denim. I have other jeans patterns for stretch fabric, including the Jalie pattern that's so popular on the sew-along.
I've also been working on t-shirts, and have fabric on order to make a few more. Today, I cut out the CJPatterns Inset Jacket and it's ready to sew.
Have a great week everyone!

I love the red lining. I love peekaboo fabrics that hide in jackets, jeans and under skirts. Too cute!
Love the bandana facings! Great jeans Gwen! I need to get busy and make some too!
Nice job, Gwen! Nothing like having some red wear no one else knows...
Those jeans are Great!!! With a capital "G"!!! I love the red trim, too. Mom jeans are for moms and grandmoms and that's what we are!
Love your jeans, I bet they fit good. I have yet to try jeans, got to put that on my list too.
Those look very nice! I can't wait to get through my class so I can start sewing some pants too!
That little touch of red bandana would add $20 to the cost of RTW jeans. Aren't you glad you sew? :)
Very nice jeans. I love your red zip and bandana print.
They look great. Jeans have been on my sewing list for so long it's about time I made some. I am inspired by you and everyone else who has made awesome jeans lately.
Love the lining.

Your jeans look great! Thanks for linking to the
Jennifer Stern jeans. They look like they might be a good pattern to try also.
I'm making a jean skirt and then may make up my Jalie jeans.
Now this is what sewing is all about, beautiful pieces that are better than anything you can get off a rack! Gwen, I love your jeans!
I love the contrast fabric and zipper! It's so nice to put a garment on knowing there's something pretty nobody sees but me! How do you topstitch on such thick fabric? Any tips?
I love your blog
