On these cold Michigan winter nights, I enjoy curling up in my chair and do some type of handwork. Watching Downton. Or Scandal. This is my current project--a black/white/gray ripple afghan. Mostly because I had a lot of black/white/gray yarn and am trying to empty some of my yarn stash. The nice thing about this is--it's covering my legs while I work on it. When it's done, it's going in my car. In these cold climates, one never knows when a blanket will be needed. Just in case.
When I venture out into the frigid, snowy, frozen tundra, I buy patterns. Like these.
I'm still working on pants. There has been a lot of foul language in my sewing room while I attempt to fit them. I have a pretty good muslin, but had a mental block when trying to transfer a couple of the alterations to the flat pattern. It really shouldn't have been so difficult, but I couldn't get my head around it. When I finally wised up, I made the changes and am ready to cut a pant. At last! I will have those pants ready for the Designer challenge this month. Do you hear me, Katherine?

Good tip on the Scotch tape! I will need to get some!
I'm a taper too Gwen. I'll have to get me some of that tape.
A lovely project for a cold winter's night! Look forward to seeing your pants.
Very pretty afghan. I picked up that tape by mistake at Christmas, not the best to wrap packages - they seem to get unwrapped! LOL.
Love the new afghan and I need that type of tape, too. Those patterns look good, too. Stay warm!
The Coni Crawford shorts pattern is great! I have made 3 from linen and lined the pockets with polyester to reduce bulk. Here is a link to my post: http://fitforaqueen.wordpress.com/2012/09/03/custom-coni-crawford-2.That Scotch tape looks like a winner!!!! Love the 2 coat/jacket patterns too...bought them but haven't made them yet except for clients.
That afghan looks cozy! Thats a lot of yarn there, I never had the patience for crochet of knitting.
I will try that tape. I use a lot of paper tape that I buy where you buy bandaids. It is really great stuff for patterns. I use a lot of it. Have to buy more soon.
I'll try that tape. Can you press over it? Your afghan is beautiful. Working on pants is always a challenge. I'm rooting for ya.
Oooo, can't wait to see those pants. Are they a result of your Sure Fit Design package?
Great find on the tape, thanks for sharing! Cold Michigan winters... you aren't kidding! This year isn't quite like last year, is it? Anyway, it's good to see you posting again, like catching up with a missed friend!
The tape looks like a great idea. I will need to check that out. Your ripple afghan looks very nice. Love the color choices.
Thanks for the tip, and I love your afghan! Those colors are great together.
I love this tape too, I also love micropore tape for mending torn patterns, you can iron on it. Micropore is first aid tape. Then there is the double sided scotch tape, it is wonderful for crafting things.
I love tape. I need to get a life.
I use a lot of tape too, thanks for this tip. The weather has been really nice in my area this year, the coldest we had in January was -28 celsius, with -33 degree windchill, and that was pretty nice compare to previous years
I have tried that tape too, but now I am going to try paper medical tape. I read that you can press over it on the tissue paper without it messing up. Maybe you could explain how you use the removable tape? I'm always on the lookout for pattern-fitting tips, since I am a lone sewer here and have to do it all myself. Thanks.
by the way, our coldest yet here was -41 celsuis, which is about the same as farenheit, which is just darn cold! but beautiful sunsets come with it:)

Thanks for the removable tape tip. And I'm glad I'm not the only one who curses at my pants when I can't get the fit right. :)
This tape will have to go in my sewing box immediately!
