Little Black Cardi

I want to thank all of you for your concern and good wishes about my eye surgery and resulting problem.  My eye has healed and I'm ready for another surgery next week.  Ready is probably not the right word. Reconciled.  Because of the way the anesthetic stays with me, I'll have two days that are worry free.  I'll be totally happy! Giddy.  Stupid.

I have a black knit fabric that has black, raised, textured flowers.  It's thin.  I bought it for a pattern that ended up being a wrong choice.  So today, I made my old standby cardi.  It's my "go to" thing when I want to sew but don't want to have to think about it or figure anything out.  Lazy sewing.  The fabric was perfect for it and it was quick and easy.  Painless.

The last pattern sale at Jos I bought these patterns.

I like the lines on the McCall outerwear jacket.  It has a saddle shoulder--something you don't seem often.  And the See&Sew coat has a cute, full back.  Who knows when or if they will get made.  I think of my patterns as a collection, and truly, how many of us actually sew all the patterns we have?  Still, they are comforting, aren't they? Especially when they are on sale so inexpensive.

I have traced and altered the Cutting Line Designs HeartsAFlutter overblouse.  I believe Shams may have made it so I'll have to check her blog and PR to find it.  I know it runs very large, so I used the finished garment measurements, which is what I always do, anyway.  That's on the agenda for tomorrow.

I'm glad to hear of your recovery. I can understand a bit of apprehension for the next surgery but once it is done that will be the end of it.

That McCall is a great pattern. I know you will be back in the saddle as soon as you can after the surgery. Take care.

Great cardi. What pattern is that? BTW, I love the HAF overshirt. I've made one but keep looking for the right fabric to make another. It's a nice look I think. Hope your surgery is successful and recovery quick so you can get back to sewing!

I agree, cute cardi.
Thanks for your comment about me being smart--I think I'm just persistent! :)

Right after the baby was pulled from me during the c-section, the anesthesiologist bent over me and said. "I'm going to give you somerthing to relax you." It worked wonders! I was euphoric for 2 weeks! Glad to hear you came through your surgery so well. :)

Hi Gwen,
Glad to hear you are doing well. It's been awhile since I've spent any serious time blogging. Hopefully, your second surgery is a success.

Painless sewing is just as rewarding. It's a good way to quickly add to the wardrobe.

Aloha Gwen! So sorry to read about your eye. I pray the latest surgery went well. Your black cardi is sure to see lots of wear. What a versatile color and pattern. I am glad you enjoy seeing pictures of Maui. It really is a beautiful island.

Gwen, yes I made the top specifically to wear with leggins. I needed a few tunic like tops since I live in leggins on weekends. Hope I don't look too old for this trend. I also picked up a few mens dress shirts from Goodwill this weekend to try to fashion into tunics too. Hope you are recooping well from your surgery!!!

Praying for your eye and that all will go well and recovery will be fast. I like that McCalls Jacket. I am afraid it will be apart of my collection 'when' I buy because I 'will buy' it the next time they are on sale. Your cardi is very nice. A true seamstress sews no matter how simple or difficult the project, Right?!!
