Every summer, I sew Tshirts. Lately, there's been discussion on some blogs about
PamelasPatterns, and her marvelous fitting Ts. I've used the same old Stretch&Sew Tshirt pattern for years, but I'm going to order a Pamela pattern, along with the neckline variations pattern. Although it's not mind-bending, creative sewing, for me it is essential if I want a T that fits the way I want it to. I made this one:
I cut out thee others, which are in my "to sew" pile. While in this simple sewing frenzy, I ordered a couple of cotton knits from
TheFabricFairy. One is this Betty Boop fabric. Silly. Whimsical. But, really, Betty Boop is an icon! She makes me happy.
And, this green cotton knit.
When I get tired of repetitive sewing, there are these new top patterns I'll tackle.
As Betty says, "poopoopidoo" to you!
20 Talk to me:
I love the bias binding from the stripes on the neckline of your tshirt. It will be interesting to see what differences there are between the pattern you've been using and the one you've ordered.
Your stripe t-shirt is wonderful, great job on the binding. Can't wait to see all your other ones.
Your striped Tee is right on trend. Love the Betty Boop fabric!
Love, love, love those strips.
Nice t shirts, and embryo t shirts ! A bit of production sewing is a good thing for the wardrobe, and your shirt is a particularly good example.
you know, there's nothing like Bettty Boop!
ooh! i like the green cotton knit!
i want to make the skirt from that rachel pattern. sometime this summer! (and it will be longer for sure!)
as always i love the way you do bindings with stripes!
thanks too for your comments about food and health--i am feeling better generally since changing my eating habits--and it's been 5 months.
I love this tshirt , if I ever find the right striped jersey I should make one too. I particularly love the bias binding.
I love your striped t-shirt, it's so elegant it looks far better than a simple tee! Love the Betty Boop fabric and the green dotted one too :)
The striped top is so summery and I love how you finished your neck. Cute new fabrics too. The Katharine Tilton pattern looks like fun to try.
I made one of Pamela's tees and was disappointed. Size down, they fit large. Personally, I have found Cecelia Podolak's tee (Material Things is her website) and Connie Crawford's tee to fit the nicest.
It feels good to knock out a batch of something! I have 13 jars of strawberry jam in my pantry now :-)
You striped tshirt is great, always useful, always in-style.
I used Pamela's T shirt recently. I was a little larger than the high bust measurement, but I was able to pivot a few more inches into the bust. I'm very happy with the result and I plan to make at least one more t-shirt using that pattern.
I want my tees "the way I want them" too. And it feels so productive to crank a few out at a time. Yours looks great. Hope you have fun trying out the new pattern.
Every time I see striped knits, I want to go online and purchase some. Your t-shirt is great. The others will be equally as fabulous, I'm sure.
I want that Vogue pattern bad, but my two Joann stores only have the smaller sizes. Boo. Can't wait to see you make this one up.
Striped t - such a summer classic! Love your neckline "design".
Oh, my God! I have a knitting same as yours (striped) in my stash and it always left hanging, this is the nudge I needed, love your shirt! And the fabric of Betty B. is wonderful!
Such a fab looking top, Gwen! Striped t's will not go out of style. That's cool that you got some Betty Boop fabric. Just too cute!
Hooray for striped t-shirts - such a classic, and I'll bet it looks great on!
