Books, Patterns and a Happy Day

Thank you,  each and every one of you for your good wishes for my husband.  It has been a very stressful time for us and your kind words comforted me.  Today, his vision returned to normal--12 days after his stroke.  Like a miracle.  Suddenly.  I've been on an emotional roller-coaster and haven't accomplished much of anything today.  And I don't care.

Some of you are familiar with Nancy Erickson's Fashion Sewing Group.  I recognize a few names on Nancy's thread at Stitcher's Guild.  I became very interested in the discussion(s) on that forum, and a couple of weeks ago, purchased the jacket workbook,  and the 1945 jacket pattern.

I then ordered the other two jacket supplements, the newsletter, the book "Do You Love What You Sew", and the "Pants Conversion" leaflet.  They came in today's mail.

So, even though I'm late for the party, I got there!  I'm enjoying reading this material, and there is always something new to learn.  Her method is to work up a TNT and then "design it yourself" details.  I'd be happy to hear if you've made this jacket, or any of her patterns and your thoughts about them.

My Butterick jacket from the post below is finished.  Photos maybe tomorrow.

I just got the Jackets workbook and some patterns from Nancy Erickson. I haven't started on my jacket yet, but am definitely interested in what everyone has to say about her patterns!

Oh happy day! What great news about your hubby!

The reading material is good isn't it? I just ordered the jacket workbook and 1945 myself. Hopefully after I get a couple of other things done, I'll be able to work up a TNT myself.

God answers prayers. As far as the reading material...better late then never. I'm sure as awesome of a sewer that you are, you could write your own book anyway. Hugs!

Gwen, that must have been very scary for the both of you. How wonderful that he has made such a dramatic improvement. I have to say, I take things like eyesight and hearing for granted, but my DH is losing his hearing FAST and I'm learning to be grateful for my health.

I'm so relieved to hear that your husband's vision has returned. (I'm sure that you are also!) You deserve a time for taking it easy. The Nancy Erickson items sound enticing. I'll be reading what you think -- might indulge myself!

Welcome to the NE sewing party -- you will enjoy her patterns and her ideas. Have been using her patterns, etc. for as long as they are on the market and they are my TNT. Particularly her trouser pattern. Her advise is
solid! She does know what she is talking about!!! Enjoy your sewing adventures. Just one redhead to another!
