My Little Golden Book

Yesterday, I read with interest Phyllis's post about SusanKhalje,  her new website, and that she will be offering her Bridal Couture book on CD soon.

Phyllis commented about the price of this book on Amazon.  I remember when that book first hit the bookshelves, but I never bought it.  My curiousity got the best of me, and I checked the price of the book on Amazon-$93.00.  Then, I checked on Ebay and found one copy for, get this--$140.00!

Today, I was out and about and stopped in Habermans to look for something.  As I passed the books, I saw one copy of "Bridal Couture".  I picked it up and looked at the price-$29.95.  Now, I am not a fool.  I bought that book in a split second!

If you find a copy , resonably priced, you may want to buy it because obviously, it is a Golden Book now!

I just got Easy Guide to Linings, and although it isn't quite that inflated, it averaged in the 40 dollar range on amazon - up to 150!! I was lucky to find a used copy for 10, but !!! 150?!?! Snap those sewing books up now!!

I saw the post yesterday too! You got a great price. I will have to check out Vogue Fabric to see if they have a copy.

Good for you! I plan on buying it when she puts out her cd. I'd prefer a book though.

I remember years ago scrimping and saving to buy sewing books because my children were small and I had other priorities. Now I'm sooooo happy that I did buy all the books that I wanted because I am AMAZED at the current selling prices. My sewing library is literary a goldmine now and I'm so glad that I made the investment!

Congratulations on your find. I'd love to have that book but I would have to find a deal like you did! Maybe the CD will be reasonably priced.

My daughter gave me Amazon Gift Certs for Christmas and this was one of the books I had in mind getting. I was shocked at the price. I didn't remember it being so expensive. On Canadian Amazon, they don't carry it but you can get it through them. A new copy is $319.54 and a used one is $266.80, they come from the States and they are paperback! I bought Cool Couture by Kenneth King instead. Luckily my local library has a copy I can get when I need it. It is a really nice book but it isn't worth that much to me.

I've had this book in my collection since it was first released. It's a gem...and I'm sooo happy I didn't donate it when I was going thru my "I have too much sewing stuff" phase a few years back.

I am desesperately looking for this book because my DDIL asked me to sew her bridal dress (strapless boned bodice and trail) I have been horrified when I saw the its price on Amazon. I am waiting for the cd to be issued I hope that it will not be as expensive
