Heads Up!

Simplicity patterns are 99 cents coming up at Jo's--Thursday through Saturday. Get em' while they're hot. Or not.

I worked on my jacket for a couple of hours today. The front neckline, which is a long "v" (before collar) needs taping so it doesn't stretch. Did that. The samples I made with slot seams didn't please me. Scratch that idea.

This jacket has princess seams, front and back. I pressed them open, and topstitched each side. The topstitching is 3/8" from the seam. I angled the stitching line in to the middle of the seam a couple of times, just for something different. I like the look of that. The collar is put together. That's as far as I got today. More tomorrow.

There are quite a few people who are sewing vintage patterns. I'm sure this has been posted before, but there is a really good online reference for vintage techniques. It is "free online access to public domain sewing books", as the site states. There is some interesting information there, and a fun read. Here's the link:http://vintagesewing.info/

Today, we have snow on the ground. Yuck!

What a clever detail with the topstitching angling in like that. I looked at it close up. Really neat!! You are very good at the details of a garment. That's what makes it so perfect.

Hey, thanks for the heads up on the $.99 Simplicity patterns. There is one I've been planning to buy (even tho I'm trying to cut back on pattern buying). I'll try to pick it up. Looking forward to seeing your finished green jacket!

You are exactly right Gwen, it is all a circle and a good one at that. Again, I really love your topstitching, I've go to try that one myself. Any tips on doing it?

I love the color. And that top stitching is divine.

I'm a big fan of the vintagesewing.info I've taken a few and gotten them spiral bound after printing so I had a copy I could put post it notes all over (I cannot write in any kind of book.)
