Midtown Trench Beginning

Fall is in the air, and I find myself in need of a lightweight coat.  I've decided on Indygo Junction's Midtown Trench.

I first paid attention to this coat when I saws it on Patty's post.  Hers was made from a black/white print and cute as can be.  I like the pleats in the back, the slightly belled sleeve and big collar.  The fabric is a textured burgundy something or other--in other words, content unknown.  It's beefy fabric, and the back is brushed.

I made a muslin, and decreased the ease in the front princess seam a bit, so it eased in better.  Other than that, the only changes I made was to lengthen the coat.  The pattern calls for an unlined coat, but mine will be lined.   Today I cut fashion fabric.  Next, I will cut and fuse interfacing.   I'm going to fuse the entire front and the back yoke.

So, it's started.  I need to focus and get it done in the next couple of weeks because the temps are cooling down fast.  Seems like I'm always late for the show!

You aren't the only one whose sewing falls behind the seasons! This looks like a beautiful coat pattern and easy to wear too. I look forward to seeing it made up in your fashion fabric!

This is such a cute pattern! And burgundy is on all the fashion radars right now. I'm sure you'll love this coat and wear it for more tha one season, so who cares when you started it? (I can't sew fall gear in summer either!)

It's never too late to make a coat or a trench. I made mine before the humidity set in this week. I hope you get to make it too. It's a lovely style.
