JAM #2, the Beginning

Thank you all for the nice comments on my Winter Sunshine.   This is such a wonderful community, and I wish I knew each and every one of you personally.

As things seem to go in life, when it rains, it pours.  My DH has had health issues for a long time, and Saturday morning, he suffered a stroke.  On one of the worst, snowy, bad road days we've had until today.  It was a small stroke, a TIA, I believe it is called.  It affected his eyes, so that he has double vision, which has caused him to lose his equilibrium.  He is home from the hospital and recuperating.  The doctors believe his vision will return to normal in time, and he will get corrective lenses.  Until then, he does need help and I can't leave him alone.

Today, I found some time to work on my next JAM.  It's B5567.

I'm making View D, in the lower right corner.  It's unstructured and although supposed to be unlined, I am adding a lining.  The fabric is an orange knit, with a "loopy" face.  I got this fabric off the grab table at a sewing club.  I've had it in the stash for a long time, never knowing quite what to do with it.  I don't think a muslin is necessary for this jacket.  There's very little fitting and the fabric was free, so I have nothing invested.  Shannon made this recently, and I thought it was cute, worn with a long sleeve top.

Hope everyone had a good snow-day and got a lot of sewing done.

I hope he gets better soon. The brain has an incredible way of forging new pathways and fixing things we don't understand. Stay strong.

Gwen, you sound like a PERFECT "nurse" for your DH!! We could exchange stories, eh... Today, I told TOny, "Don't worry... If you fall, you won't get hurt;)" Two seconds later, I landed in a BIG puff of the fluffy white snow stuff!! We LAUGHED!!
CUTE jacket! Enjoy your winter sewing days...
Warm greetings,
Rhonda in wonderfully snowy Montreal (that's NORMAL ;)

So sorry to hear about your husband. I pray the doctors are right and your husband's vision clears up. It's so good you are able to help him through this difficult time. Glad you are able to look ahead to another fun sewing project too. The color looks scrumptious!

Hope your husband recovers soon, keep strong and best wishes to him.

Sewing will give you some diversion from your worries that you will have. Orange sounds lovely.

Hi Gwen, I'm so sorry to hear about your husband. My father and mother both had a TIA at one time and had a full recovery. I hope the same for your husband. Be well and take care of yourself as well.

Gwen, I'm sorry your husband is having more health problems. I hope he recovers much of what he lost and continues to improve. I love that jacket and plan to go back and get a closer look. I tried a McCalls jacket and ended up throwing the pattern and muslin away. I think the new jacket will be really cute. I am noticing more orange lately. I think it's always been around but I'm liking it more.

So sorry to hear about your husband. My mom had a series of what may have been TIAs several years ago and has recovered completely from them.

oh I'm sorry to hear about your husband! I'm glad he's at least home, though. And our eyes really are very adaptable - I had a huge amounts of dark spots in my vision after my meningitis post-transplant, and my eyes really have learned to just not notice them any more over time...
