12 Jackets-Who Am I Kidding?

The "12 Jackets" Sew Along at SG just got to me.  I can't help it.  I just had to join in.   My first (I think), is McCalls 5711, OOP pattern described in my last post.  I have ordered this mustard-yellow wool crepe from GorgeousFabrics.  This is called "Winter Sunshine".  I love that name.  Winter. Sunshine.

After having a very intense Christmas Eve with DH at the ER, and staying home on Christmas Day, taking care of him, I participated in the fabric sale at FabricMart.  It soothed me.  Calmed down my nerves.  The sale is still in effect through today, in case you're need a fabric fix.

I ordered the beautiful border print knit that Carolyn fashioned into a gorgeous outfit.  I don't know what mine going to be.  Maybe I'll just drape it on a chair and look at it.  It's that kind of beautifulness.
Also, ordered this black herringbone wool for another jacket.

I hope to start working on the pattern tomorrow and get a muslin started.  This jacket sew along sounds like a lot of fun.  See you there!

I'm sorry to hear about your DH, hope he is doing better!

You are going to love that borderprint. Every time I look at the twinset made from it, it makes me smile. And I don't think it matters how many jackets you make, just that you enjoy the process and get a couple of new jackets out of the journey!

Happy Boxing Day. I'm so sorry about your husband. I hope he is feeling better and it was nothing serious. I love the Mc'Calls jacket pattern you are planning. I had that one at one time and miss it. There are several look a likes in Burda, so I may need to trace. I was going to follow along quietly in the jacket sew a long, but I've already got 2 jackets planned and SG lets you do casual jackets in the mix. I might be able to keep up. I also got some fabrics, a waterproof. I've never sewn with waterproof. An alpaca, wool mix, a some wool medium weight, a piece of italian shirting. Stay safe and well for the new year.

Your first paragraph: lol

Your second paragraph: :( Hope he feels better soon.

Your third paragraph: I hear ya! At least fabric shopping doesn't impact the waistline the way comfort eating can!

I'm glad to see you over on SG. :)

Here's some healing wishes for your DH. I do hope that all is well. There is something so enticing about the Jacket Sew Along and the fabric sales. You'll do just fine! Me? Who am I kidding? Well, I'm excited and sure that I'll make some progress on my jacket making desires with the encouragement of the group. Of course, I bought a ton of fabric at the Fabric Mart sale so I'd better make some progress! Take care of yourself and that guy of yours. Happy Jacket Sewing!!!

Good for you--shopping on Christmas Day. Sorry for the hospital issues. Hope all is calm now. Great to hear that you are joining the 12 jacket sew along. I don't have room to hang 12 jackets in my closet and in my retirement I don't wear that many anymore. I'm aftaid 12 would be too many for me, but I'm certainly going to enjoy everyone else's creations. Your yellow is going to be fabulous.

I am sorry to hear about your DH. Makes for a rough Christmas.

I don't know about this 12 jackets thing. I don't need 12 jackets. I will enjoy following your adventures in outerwear.

Christmas Eve at the ER. I have had the same experience during a past Xmas. I know how hard it is. My prayers and best wishes for both you and your husband.

I hope your DH is feeling better. You make beautiful jackets. What a lovely cheery color fabric you have chosen for your first one of the year. I passed on the Fabric Mart sale, but partook of the one at Denver Fabrics.
