Some machine brands have several pintuck feet from which to choose. My Berninas have four different pintuck feet: 3 groove, 5 groove, 7 groove and 9 groove. The grooves serve a couple of purposes. After making one pintuck, that pintuck can be laid in one of the grooves of the foot, while stitching another, making perfectly spaced tucks. Or, cording can be inserted under the grooves to make a corded pintuck. Here you can see the feet, and the difference in them.
The 9 groove would be suitable for a very lightweight fabric, as opposed to the 3 groove, which is more appropriate for a heavy material.
With these feet, choose a twin needle--2.0 (width between the needles) for a 9 groove foot, and 4.0 for the 3 groove foot, and of course, numbers in between for the others. Thread the twin needles, increase the top tension and--sew. That's all there is to it! The tucks will form on the top of the fabric with straight stitches, while the bobbin does a zig-zag, pulling the fabric together on the back, forming the pintucks.

Gorgeous! I need to get better acquainted with different presser feet. The garments look so much better when using the fancy feet!
BTW, since you are a Bernina Queen. I have been back and forth on buying a Bernina. Would love an opinion-- would you buy a new Activa 220 or 240 (which is being discontinued soon) or for lesser $$ get a 20/30 year 931 which has been very well cared for??? Let me know!! I appreciate your thoughts!

My Bernina has a bunch of those pintuck feet and I have a blouse pattern that calls for pintucks. Now all I need is courage.
I had a pintuck foot when I owned an Elna, but I don't have one yet for my Bernina. Now, I waiting for the next foot sale.

I collect sewing machine feet along with my fabrics and patterns. I believe that I only have 3 pintuck feet for my Bernina. I'll have to go count and rectify that if I'm missing one! I haven't used them for a long time. You are encouraging me to get them working!! Your bib looks great.

I just may tipsy on over to SK for a wrist pin cushion. I am always removing pins as I sew and end up with a bunch of pins haphazardly at the edge of the sewing table then having to scoop them into my palm and return them to the pin cushion on the otherside of the room.
Your tunic is coming along nicely.. I really like the bib details.
