My New Best--Notion

I cannot sew without a wrist pincushion.  I'm so used to wearing one that I've gone to the store with it on!  And a thimble!  The one I've been using, made with lambs wool and a plastic wristband got worn completely out, the wool separating and pins falling out of the thing.  One day, I saw the ultimate, beautiful wrist pincushion on Ann's blog (here she shows it).  It's made in France!  Sold by SusanKhalje.  I scurried over to her website to purchase it and discovered it was OUT OF STOCK!!

Oh, how I coveted that pincushion!  Time and time I went back to Susan's website.  At last--they were available again.  I wasted no time in ordering.  It comes in red and blue.  I choose red.  It has a gold-toned wristband.  Well-padded.  Big.  Expensive.  I don't care.  I heart it.

I couldn't wait to get pins in it.  I love the weight of it and that it's snug and not all wimpy.  Now, stop drooling over it! You can have your own.  You know where.

I continue to work on the Deneuve tunic.  It's close to finished.  It has a hiden placket on the bib.

The fabric is red, but bordering on coral. In my stash, I had a piece of coral lining.  I'm using that for Hong Kong and Bound seams.  The photo below shows wrinkles, but in reality, there are none.  It's just the way the piece is laying.

I'm ready to hem.  Make a couple of buttonholes.  Cover a few buttons.   Pin something!

I also love a wrist pin cushion. I have a magnetic one that keeps sliding all over my wrist. Please tell me about the features that make this pin cushion special.

That is a lovely pincushion, I heart it, too! As for your tunic, it's coming along fantastically, and I have to tell you... the pics of the insides of your garments make me want to be a better woman. Er, uh.. I mean... a better seamstress! Thanks for the inspiration!

Cool pincushion! I've never used a wrist cushion. I usually keep one on the cutting table and one at the sewing machine. When one begins to fill up, I redistrubte pins----maybe a wrist cushion would be nice! Thinking..........

Lovely details on your jacket.

That pin cushion sounds perfect. I think I'll have to get one :))))

Hmmmm,I heart the plastic and wool one pin cushion. I ingeniously discovered that a hair band will keep the wool in place when it starts to come out. But the last one in my stash is about to go for good. Will have to check the fashionable French one...oolala!

I'm laughing as I read this. Now you know you are a true sewist! I thought I was bad with finding stray pieces of thread on my dogs, tangled in my vacuum and hanging from me when I leave the house! Construction is fab on this top!

Qwen, I'll trace out the coat for you if you'd like, it's a size 16. It may be a little while, but if you want, just ask.

Thanks for the heads up on Susan's website. I found several things I had been looking for so I bought a few things to try out. And I also bought the red pincushion. I don't normally use a wrist pincushion but have had several ocassions when one would be handy. My magnetic one is great for catching pins at the sewing machine but it does not feel good to wear.

When I get my order, I will post about it on my blog.

And I am loving the way this blouse is coming together. Can't wait to see it finished.
