A Done Deal

I finished the red duster.  It is exactly what I envisioned.  Although it's too warm to wear it now, it will be perfect for fall.  Yes, I said FALL!  It is inevitable.

And back:

I used an old TNT shirt pattern, and made the following changes:
1.  Lengthened and A-lined to calf-length.
2.  Added breast pockets with white top-stitching.
3.  Made a cuffed sleeve with tab
4.  Added a back yoke, with tab and white top-stitching.

The seams are Hong Kong finished and bound armholes, and lace tape on the hem.

Next, I'm working on a tunic or blouse.  Maybe this.

New Simplicity patterns are up on their website.  I don't see anything particularly exceptional.  Still, it's always worth a look, and you talented people make a rather plain looking pattern into something spectacular!

Happy 4th!

This happened to me last year. I made a jacket that it was too hot to wear much. But without a lining that duster is good for over chilled restaurants.

I love the tabbed sleeves, and the color is bright and timeless. You reminded me that I have that simplicity pattern in my stash, I really should pull it out it's so cute.

Great duster! I love a true red garment, and seeing or wearing one always lifts my spirits. Didn't you also have a trenchcoat in the works?

Very nice - now is a duster something like a house coat? how elegant to wander round the house in something so bright and beautifully finished.

If you ever get tired of that duster, you can send it my way. I love it! It looks great on you. Fall? I'm just getting into summer.

You are one talented lady who can turn any pattern into something sensational. You always, always, always put so much detail work into your creations. You are so impressive!!!! I love this duster.

Beautiful, love the details it has: topstitching, tabs, pockets.
Would you know why this is called a duster? In Dutch we have the same word, but then it is a bathrobe/something you wear when not yet dressed. Yours is obviously not that. Just curiosity.
