Recently, I bought these two HotPatterns.
The Plain and Simple Superfantastic Shirt and Deneuve Tuxedo Shirt, Tunic & Dress. I'm making the Deneuve Tuxedo Tunic. I seem to be copying Gigi, who made it a few weeks ago, and is now making another beautiful version, white with lace insertion on the bib.
I made a muslin, even though it's an unstructured, loose style. The muslin was perfect. The fabric I'm using is red poly-woven, lightweight fabric from Jos at $1.50 per yard. It's labeled as a "spring suiting", but it's soft and drapey. A good choice, I think, for this tunic. Plus, it doesn't wrinkle, which is a plus!
The bib is a great opportunity for embellishment. I am pintucking, using a pintuck foot and double needle. I chalk-marked straight lines the length of the fabric, every 1/2".
I was happy the pintucking worked on this fabric, without puckers. Once this piece was finished, I ironed it, and it looks good. So far. More as I progress.

Again, you are embellishing your garment in such a beautiful way. I love pintucks. I have a pintuck foot, too, and wouldn't take anything for it! This is going to be a great top!
Looks great!! How do you thread the twin needle? I can see one thread going down but I don't see how the needles are threaded.
Before I started sewing I used to call pintucks... baby pleats...lol. I recently purchased a pintuck foot and you have inspired me to try it.

I think that is the same fabric I bought at Jo's for that price - it was called spring suiting too. It the blue one I made early spring this year. Nice fabric to work with.

Beautiful work! I read about the pintucking foot in a Threads magazine - it sounded very cool.
I've never heard of a pintuck foot--thanks for introducing me to a new term, and yet another way twin needles can be used (as you know, I loves me a twin needle!!!)
The pintucks will be a great addition. I'm beginning to like Hot Patterns more and more. I'm going to have to buy one or two very soon.

The pintucking is beautiful. It's not easy getting those tiny tucks without puckers, particularly on a poly. This will be so pretty.
