Warning To My Cyber Friends

Tonight, I lost my wallet. If anyone has ever lost theirs, you know what a horrible feeling that is.  Panic and anxiety.  I am fortunate that I don't carry my SS card.  I only had $20 in cash.   Within one hour, I cancelled a debit card and a couple of credit cards.  Tomorrow, I have to go get a drivers license.  The biggest PITA will be trying to get a new Blue Cross card.

So, just a reminder to all of you--make sure to keep up with your wallet at all times.   Taking a moment to double-check where it is will save you stress.  Really.

Now, I will drink wine.

Wine makes everything better.

Oh that is so stressful, but I believe you have found yourself the perfect remedy.

Poor you! That is stressful.

At home, our printer is also a copier (I think a lot of them are now days), so I took all of my cards out of my wallet and made copies of them all on one sheet of A4 (8"x11") paper and filed it. Should I loose my wallet, I hope this will help me to know what was in my wallet in the first place and how to start calling to cancel/replace.

One of the things we don't need in our lives! (losing your wallet I mean). I hope it doesn't give you too much trouble. Maybe it will turn up again. And if not then you can treat yourself on a new one.

Hi Gwen. I'm so sorry this has happened to you. During the '80s, the same happened to me (OMG)! The THIEF used mine and my then 5yr old son's SSNs to purchase a vehicle and furs. It took me forever to get authorities to pursue this woman. I pray that you don't have the same experiences. I grappled with the aftermath until 1990's. Went to apply for credit card and discovered I already had one!!!! Took another year to straighten this out. Remember to place an alert on your credit file through the Big 3.

Drink piles of wine. It fixes things. (temporarily...) Hope Blue Cross doesn't give you too much trouble.

I'm sorry you're going through this. Hopefully the consequences won't be negative. I going to take my SS card out of my wallet right now.

Gwen, I am so sorry this happened to you :( I have left my purse too many times and once while traveling long distance. Just lucky that I was able to drive back and get before anyone noticed it. Great idea about copying all the cards in wallet from Karin. Also do the free annual credit check that is available and do it every year at the same time. I do and it has been a blessing to keep my credit report accurate. My problem was someone with the same name in the same town (and bad debts) that I used to live in. Contacting the credit reporting agencies was the only way to correct this. Talking to the debt collection people (cavemen) was of no use.

It is a sickening feeling. I am glad you did not have any cash, but the hassle of canceling everything ia a major PITA. Now drink that wine......

Oh dear, so sorry to hear you lost your wallet. What a pain! You should be able to order a new card from BCBS online.

What a bummer. If I lost my wallet I'd need more than wine!

Sorry to hear about the wallet problem. It sounds like you are taking care of the business. Hope the wine helped!

You deserve that wine!

Oh man, what a pain. My recommendation is to look at your past statements to see what your automatic charges are--I had to pay fees to the gym and Verizon for not updating the card number before my bill was due last time I had to replace my credit card.

I'm so sorry that you lost your wallet. Maybe now that you've canceled all that stuff, etc... you will find it. I do carry my SS card. I need to stop. I never really thought about not carrying it. Thanks for that tip!

So sorry that happened!

So sorry you are dealing with this. It is a major pain in the a-s. Enjoy that glass of wine.

I'm so sorry. I hope you called all the places you might have left it and left your phone number. Also, it doesn't hurt to say alittle prayer. It still would be comforting to get it back, even though you've already done all the PITA followup. I'll be praying.

Yikes, not a fun thing to deal with. Hope the wine enabled you to "chill" after that ordeal!

Oh that horrible sick feeling! I had my purse stolen right out of my house while my toddler slept a few feet away. I had just gotten in from shopping and had walked the groceries to the kitchen in the back of the house. I was living in Spain at the time and we had gypsies camping near our neighborhood. The kids wandered the streets at times.

Oh, I hope you enjoyed a nice glass of wine. That is awful about your wallet. Really, the feeling of losing it leaves a pit in one's stomach, but actually losing it is that AND a PITA.
