Holiday Sewing

Bring on the holidays! No, not yet? What--you're not ready? DH and I went Christmas shopping and we are D.O.N.E. !! I try to have the shopping done by Thanksgiving.

I don't do a lot of holiday type sewing, but I like to have a "little something" for a couple of ladies. This year it's aprons. I made the 4-Corners Apron from Vanilla House Designs.

.
This is Sewing 101. The apron is lined with the co-ordinating fabric. The public side has trim around two edges. Two large squares sewn together. Add straps at the neckline and waist. I used a religious-themed cotton fabric for the right side, and found a dotted print for the reverse side and trim. I think the recipients will appreciate the fabric choice. Ease-peasy. I will make another, probably tomorrow.

And then, I am finished with holiday gifts. The day after Thanksgiving, while people are out shopping in droves, I will be at home, hopefully in my sewing room, enjoying the day. Or-perhaps wrapping gifts!

Tomorrow I will pack my gear for the Felted Wool Jacket class on Tuesday and Wednesday. I'm looking forward to two days of fun!

Are you kiddin' me? You're really D.O.N.E. with your Christmas shopping? Well, all I can say is that I am J.E.A.L.O.U.S. as I've barely begun to even think about the holidays!

I love aprons! Making them and wearing one!! I just started to think about Christmas this weekend. We have two birthdays before christmas so it always delays my shopping!

I'm buying a gift a week and only have a few so far. I'm trying not to break the bank like I did last year :)
I'm loving the apron. What an easy project for a first time student! I may have to use this one.
Enjoy your sewing moments!

Oh you are too smart! I'm still working on my grands Christmas clothing. I need to finish by tomorrow. I have a very busy day Wed. I'm taking the clothing to the ones up North this weekend. Then, I've got a trunk show the next week. Then, its Thanksgiving, at my house. Then, It is Christmas programs at church. Then, its trying to figure out a trip out West to see that daughter and her family. Shopping? Probably the week before the big day. I don't do too much anyway.

Now this is something to aspire to! But no matter when I start on the gifts, I'm never finished, because I keep thinking I'll find something better, or "there's time, let's make a little something extra"... I guess the error is in my system!

Your so right about getting the shopping done early. I always leave my shopping for the last minute and the crowds get me so stressed. Love the aprons by the way!!!

DH and I collect things all year so there is less to do now. We have to sort it all now to see who we need to buy for yet. I am making a bathrobe for my 4-year old Grandson. I hope to have it done today. My family doesn't expect their gifts until after Christmas since I have trouble getting things shipped. I hope to get things done earlier this year.

Love your apron! Anyone would love to receive something that nice!
