PS to Previous Post

After thinking about the quilted jackets and sweatshirt jackets, I realize that where I see good sewing, interesting sewing, new and different is--here. Right here on these blogs.

Please, no one else quit blogging. We all have time issues. We can't all whip up 3 or 4 garments a week. But, when you do make something, I am so happy to read about it--the good, bad and ugly of it. I love to hear your take on patterns, fit issues, fabric, techniques. These blogs are a great learning tool and inspiring. Your blogs are sometimes sad, sometimes funny.

Those of us who can't produce at lightening speed seem to feel the need to apologize, or quit blogging. It isn't a contest. I hope to see your blogs WHEN you're able to sew something.

I'll be reading. And sewing when time permits. And blogging it.

Well said. I feel that way at times, not being able to finish things or get stumped on an issue.

Oh ditto! I love reading all of these blogs no matter whether they are about sewing or not!! I do enjoy learning and being inspired by all of my bloggers.

I agree with you 100%. You and all the other bloggers out there inspire me to keep sewing and reading about all the lovely hand made creations.

I totally agree, the blogs are so inspiring and helpful. I haven't been sewing much but I still read the blogs and gather ideas for all these blogs.

You said it!!!
I always comment to those who apologize for not posting, that I don't care how much time it takes them to be ready to post... when they're ready to post I'll be ready to read.
I love seeing what people are up to (on all the various fiber art blogs)... and it needn't be on some artificially imposed regular deadline.
Just... whenever!

I agree totally. When I don't have time to sew, I especially enjoy seeing what others are doing, good bad or otherwise. I have been inspired by EVERY single blog I read. It might be a simple technique, a colour combination I hadn't thought of, a variation to a pattern that makes it better for me or some incredible custom designed outfit, but it is all food for my creativity and I value all of you out there.

Great post... thank you!

I agree! Wholeheartedly! I love reading about everyone's projects. I admit, I sometimes feel guilty when time has passed and I haven't sewn and therefore have nothing to blog about. But I don't think I'm any different from all the other busy sewers in the world.

Keep those posts coming whenever you have time. I learn so much and gain so much inspiration from everyone!

Gwen, this post is excellent. Your thoughts about blogs were so well stated and so true. I feel truly grateful to have so many dedicated bloggers, regardless of the post frequency, available for me to enjoy and learn from their experiences. I think that the wonderful blog experiences might contribute to the disappointment at events like the American Sewing Expo. Of course, nothing can replace time spent with sewing friends.

I love the pillowcases.

Great post, Gwen. I am very aware of the length of time between my posts and feel I should post more often. But I don't finish projects quickly so...the posts wait.

That being said, I don't mind at all when other people have pauses - it's always worth waiting for :-)

Here Here!!

We all have so much to share and speed and quantity is not an issue. I try and check my favorite blogs at least on the weekends and occassionally during the week. If there isn't much new then I assume you lead a busy and full life of which sewing is an important part. I will always check back the next week.

Your "sew" right :) ! Sometimes I do a lot of wishing-I-could-be-there regarding expo attendance, but blogging is the next best thing. Everyone has their own specialty, their own techniques, and it's great to learn from each other. Just as good as any expo really.

Amen - glad to see someone else is tired of all the over-done quilted this or that. And these blogs are a fab resource - reminds me of the day when I was in a very active sewing club where no individual turned out that much work, but among the group we had the knowledge of about 2 or 3 garments a week - fabric type, pattern sizing, pattern fit, design ideas, sources and resources - what a bevy of wonderful ideas! That is a lot what these blogs do.
